War memorial (1920)
On August 22 1914, Poncelle suffered very much of the arrival of the German troops. Fire got set to the village that was destroyed 75%, and a great number of inhabitants were shot.
Poncelle is the first village of the current entity that built its own war memorial, in 1920. The German soldiers destroyed it in 1940, and it got built again in 1952.
On May 10 1940, a battle took place in Poncelle between the French Cuirassiers and the German soldiers, leaving 8 dead French soldiers on the territory of the village
