In 1916, Louis and Anthony Collard left Tintigny with the aim to join the Yser front in order to help the Allies airmen with their knowledges about the topography of the Belgian Province of Luxembourg.additional description
They were not even twenty years old when they left the village to join Liège where they hoped finding a way to cross the Dutch border, as the Netherlands were a neutral Country, and to join the Yser front, by crossing this Country. They stayed some days in Liège where a chief of the Resistance convinced them to forget about this project, and instead, they started working secretly for the Resistance as spies in the area. Unfortunately they got captured in Liège by a German policeman on March 8 1918, sentenced to death on June 28 and shot on July 18.
