Castle de Laittres
The Castle of Laittres or castle Baudoux was the headquarters of the seigneury of saint-Mard successively belonging to the Boucquemonts, Lutz (name of the village which was situated to the east of Gerouville) in 1435 and de Laittres from 1468 to 1842. Rebuilt in 1589 by Evrard de Laittres’s widow, the castle preserved the appearance of this reconstruction: an impressive quadrangular building surrounded by two towers which were formerly surrounded by moats supplied by the Vire.
Many times restored and a little transformed during the 17th and 18th centuries, the last works took place in 1842 by Eugène de Gerlache.
At the moment, it is the object of a patient restoration from the owner.
