Ernest Psichiari is born is a French intellectual family. He engaged very young in the army and he took part to the colonialm expeditions in Tchad and in Mauritania. He has written four novels. The second one was a great success. His last two novels were influenced by catholicism. A few time befor ethe war, he was thinking about becoming a Dominican monk. He died during the first days of the Frist World War and he became a symbol some people consider as a Christian martyr, and some other as a model soldier. However, he has always been an indecisive person, who hesitated between varied trends of thinking. Then, Rossignol became a pilgrimage place for thousands of catholics and militaries and this memorial is dedicated to him.rue Camille Joset
