This impressive building used to be notary Paul-Robert Lambinet’s home. He was born on 3rd September 1863 and died on 5th May 1947 in Virton. This 19th-century limestone house with its central door and front steps was built on an artificial mound. From the rue Croix-le-Maire, along the rue des Grasses Oies until the rue de Houdrigny, the house used to be surrounded by a nice tree-lined park.
The building was bought as a youth hostel by the City of Virton where it housed the “Maison de l’Enfance” and the new youth library in 1982. Dominoes decorate both sides of the front steps, hence its name: “Maison des Dominos”. Among other services the building houses the music school and the office of the O.N.E. (Office of Birth and Childhood). At the back the city laid out a large terraced car park in the shape of an arc and built the new municipal swimming pool.
