The cemetery of Etalle is located on the hillside after the church, on the other bank of the Semois river; its alleys slope down gently toward the river, and it is a haven of peace in which you can discover varied ancient or commemorative monuments, among which the memorial for the French soldiers. It has been erected inside th ecemetery of Etalle on the left part, down the central alley when you enter the main entry. The memorial is in stone, quite massive, with four faces, and there are inscriptions on two of them, inn memory of the French soldiers who died there during the two world wars. On the first face, a plate indicates that this memorial was erected in honour of the 19 French soldiers who died there in August 1914, and four of theme are burried there. On the second face, oriented towards the central alley, there are inscriptions about the second world war, and the names of the French soldiers who died in Etalle on May 10 1940rue du Cimetière
