The Belgian singer Chrystel Wauthier did gather some of the best jazz musicians for embarking them in a personal venture with a more pop wiff. After « Before A Song » and encouraged by André Manoukian, she is back with a sensitive and instrospective album « The Stolen Book ». Sometimes a bit of lightness is necessary for having strong emotions pass. It is the feat the singer Chrystel Wautier - a grand daughter of Ukrainian migrants who were in the heart of several conflicts - accomplishes by evoking, through a pop and jazz music that is free of any conformism, the forgotten and sometimes painful family story. Her voice has a lot to do with this music, that is full with hope and freshness. Her singing is incredibly soft and clear. Surrounded wçith musicians who are as sensitive as her, the singer brings often a tear to our eyes, whether it is for happiness or for melancholy.
